Fi'zi:k's road shoes are perfect for passionate roadies who won't compromise on quality of design. Designed to provide a comfortable and precise fit, with carbon outsoles for efficient power transfer, Fi'zi:k's road shoes deliver in every area a good cycle shoe should. As an added bonus Fi'zi:k's sleek and classy brand aesthetic makes these shoes some of the best looking on the market as well as being functionally brilliant. Designed for two bolt cleats, these shoes are compatible with the Look, Shimano SPD-SL and Speedplay pedals we stock at Flat Harry's.
Fi'zi:k's R4B takes a step up from the R5B with the design of its sole. The R4B's injected carbon outsole is super-stiff and makes a great platform for power transfer, with neatly integrated vents for temperature management. The upper part of the shoe is made from laser perforated Microtex, Fi'zi:k's go to material for shoes, saddles and bartape. Microtex is lighter than leather, very durable, good in wet conditions, breathable and easy to clean. The Heel and toe section are embellished with reflective logos for improved visibility in low light conditions. A beautifully finished shoe, the R4B has all the constituent parts to really make a difference to your cycling.
The R4B uses a Boa IP1-A closure system, with an asymmetrical cut, for a neutral fit that can accommodate all types of feet. This boa closure is used in conjunction with two welded microtex velcro straps lower down the shoe for precision volume control around the toes. Boa closures are now a staple of Fi'zi:k's cycle shoe range due to their many advantages. A secure system, the Boa laces are very firmly held in place once adjusted, avoiding any unwanted movement. The IP1-A micro-adjust dial allows for very precise control over the fit, with the added benefit of being easy to tighten or loosen by small increments on the fly and also with the ability to loosen completely with a firm pull for quick putting on and taking off. Last but not least it's a highly durable closure system, with the laces made from aircraft grade stainless-steel, so you can rely on it for secure and comfortable fit for ride after ride. Precise fit is imperative when cycling to minimise slippage and eliminate issues with blisters and rubbing.
Cris, Flat Harry's owner, had a great time using the R4B during the back end of the Summer in 2017. Despite not having a full uni-directional carbon fibre outsole, he felt the R4B presented an exceptionally stiff platform, which was ideal for pushing against and putting out the watts. He feels that a large part of the reason he had so much success with the shoe, was the sculpting of the shoes footbed which meant it provided great support at both the heel and instep area, making him feel very connected to the pedals and like he was actually using his entire foot rather than just the front section when pedalling. A brilliant shoe that has pleased both customers and Flat Harry himself, the R4B feels the part of a top shoe, without having the price tag to match.
