2017 Whyte 603 Lime

Whyte's 603 is a brilliant example of great design for great value. Whyte themselves admit that there's no point in holding back their revelations on mountain bike frame geometry for higher-end models, as it doesn't cost them anything to make them available to their sports hardtail 600 series.

As such their incredibly stable yet responsive mountain bike frame geometry is bestowed upon the 603's 6061 T6 aluminium frame. the improved stability is achieved via moving the front wheel out, lowering the bottom bracket and slackening the head angle. The lower centre of gravity and tension of the front wheel means it eats bumps up, whilst staying on course at top speeds. An SR Suntour XCM 100mm travel fork, helps with this stability and comfort without compromising feel, so you really can have faith in this bike at high speeds. Not to be left wanting in the handling department, the rear wheel is tucked in as compact as possible and a short stem is combined with long handlebars to make sure that the stability does not come at the cost of reactive and tight handling.

Keen to utilise as much of their design wisdom as possible with the 603, the cables come with Whyte's BBX internal routing to help weather-proof them and keep them manageable. The bike is also equipped with Whyte's own “get a grip” seatpost clamp system, for quick and easy adjustments even with the coldest of hands. A Shimano 3x9 drivetrain gives you plenty of options to deal with any terrain facing you and Tektro Auriga disc brakes give you all the confidence and control you need to really try and test yourself at speed. Whyte's 603 is a fantastic entry level bike, to get anyone into off-road fun, delivering impressive performance for its affordability.
